About Us

Everybody's Books, a Close Corporation, was established in 1993 and is owned by its member, Warren Halford. Everybody's Books is situated in Kwa-Zulu Natal on the east coast of South Africa, affectionately known as the land of the Zulu. We are situated close to Durban which has the busiest port of Southern Africa. Our location makes it ideal to service the sectors with whom we do business with.

South Africa comprises of nine provinces namely, Western Cape, Northern Cape, Eastern Cape, Free State, North West, Limpopo, Gauteng, Mpumalanga and Kwa Zulu Natal. With so many cultures integrated within our country, we have eleven official languages.

Everybody's Books comprises of two main divisions:

Library & Education

We distribute books and educational material to all nine provinces within South Africa. Everybody's Books has also expanded in developing new markets within Sub Saharan Africa. Namibia, Botswana, Lesotho, Swaziland and we are expanding our coverage to other African countries. The majority of Provincial Libraries and Municipal Libraries select from approval submissions. Each customer has various requirements in the process of submissions.

Everybody's Books has designed a computer program that is unique in the submission process.

The budgets for Provincial Libraries is from February to February of each year whereas the municipal budget is generally from June to June the preceding year.

Educational Departments work similarly to Provincial Libraries in selecting library resource materials. Textbooks and supplementary materials occur on a submission cost to each Department within the nine provinces. Free copies are sampled to Departments for this process and may vary in quantities. If selected they shall appear on the provinces requisition catalogue. SA Departments don't select centrally but via the nine independent provinces, unlike other countries throughout Africa whom centralize the selection process. Budgets are allocated in the same way as provincial budgets i.e. February to February the preceding year.
We also service schools within Southern Africa via our partnerships within the book trade.

Trade

Everybody's Books supplies to major stores throughout SA and neighbouring countries.

Bookshops are subscribed new titles and selected backlist each month. The majority of stores require visits each month for buyers to purchase independently. Certain stores purchase centrally.
